The open land east of Cottonwood Park in Louisville
may soon be lost. The First Baptist Church is selling
5 acres including the building and the open land to
a developer. A plan for construction of 43 units was
recently submitted to the Planning Department. To receive
a copy of the plan, please contact the Louisville City
Planning Department at 303.335.4592 or email
them.
Please come to the Louisville Open Space Advisory Board
meeting on Wednesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Louisville
Public Library meeting room. The purpose of the meeting
is to discuss the open space dedication provided in
the developer's plan. Here's
the meeting agenda and related materials in pdf.

This unique land lies between two open areas and borders the Goodhue Ditch aka "Cottonwood Creek." It is used and enjoyed by many area residents in so many ways. In particular, it is a gateway to Cottonwood Park and provides connectivity between the bike path and Pirates' Park, the Ball Field, and Louisville Middle School. It is part of a continuous open space and wildlife corridor that winds all the way to Davidson Mesa to the west and Callahan to the north.
Population density and traffic congestion are already very high in this part of Louisville. The developers are proposing putting 53 townhouses on the Corridor. Imagine how such development would completely destroy this open space and increase traffic in our neighborhood!
Neighbors and other concerned community members are coming together to take action to keep the beautiful tree-lined Goodhue Ditch and the grassy field as open space, and preserve the beauty and value of our neighborhood. Please join the email lists and help Save Cottonwood Park Corridor.
